Good morning Grade 1-1 Families! Happy Friday! We hope you have an amazing weekend ahead.
We had our first test today. Please check your child's test folder, sign the test and return it to school on Monday. We have begun all subjects, except for Science. For ELA, we are beginning to read and respond to our weekly stories. We have also begun journal writing. We encourage the children to use sound-knowledge to spell words. We have a word wall in class, which will help them spell sight words. At this point, it is okay is not all words are spelled correctly. Please engage your child in many opportunities to read at home. Twenty minutes a day is recommended. Please let me know if you need recommendations for books to read.
If you would like to donate some playground toys for the class to share during recess, we would greatly appreciate it. Examples would be sidewalk chalk, soft balls (no footballs or basketballs), velcro catching games, etc. We also have a classroom treasure box that the children can pick prizes from. If you would like to donate little toys/ trinkets/ party favors (no candy), that would also be very much appreciated.
